Wine and Dine the Days Away at Sofitel

Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila kicked off their string of Wine Days on Sept. 19 with a lavish cocktail party entitled Sky-High Soirée: Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite Cocktails. This featured the finest wines from one of the most renowned Bordeaux châteaux, Château Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite.

This event is one of many throughout September and October, aiming to give Filipinos a taste of the French Wine Harvest through a selection of wines from prominent Old World regions such as Bordeaux, Burgundy, and The Loire Valley, as well as some select New World wines from Australia, Argentina, and California to give diners a broader selection and appreciation of both styles.

The Wine Days continue today. The Sofitel Wine Shop will open its reserves, showcasing a rich selection of premium wines and artisanal cheese as sommeliers guide eager gourmands and connoisseurs in the ideal pairing of this epicurean combination.

Those of us who’d like to broaden our knowledge on both wines and cheeses may attend private wine and cheese classes held at Spiral L’epicerie, as luxurious combinations of artisanal cheese and premium wine from world-renowned vineyards are laid before you.

Sweet-toothed guests may also enjoy a rich and colorful selection of jam by premier artisan Pierre Marmonier, coupled with premium champagnes and wines, before or after enjoying Sunday Brunch with a carefully selected feature wine.

Le Bar and Snaps Sports Bar will also be joining in the festivities, with the former celebrating with twin events entitled Voyage Du Vin by Le Bar, which aims to give diners a trip of each region, through the enjoyment of wine; and Music and Wine, where guests can enjoy premium vintaged wine with a meticulously crafted playlist.

Snaps Sports Bar will celebrate in their own special way, through The World of Sangria, where guests can order different kinds of sangria by the glass or pitcher.

The Bubbly: Exclusive Champagne Tasting to be held at the Spiral L’epicerie will be on Oct. 17. Discerning connoisseurs will be treated to an extravagant afternoon of champagne tasting featuring brands such as Moët & Chandon, Krug, and Dom Perignon paired with scrumptious canapés.

Not but a day later, Spiral will hold its The Art of Wine workshop as Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila’s sommeliers navigate an afternoon of wine appreciation to guide beginners and aficionados alike in the basics of wine appreciation.

Four days after, eager gourmands may choose to participate in a special wine tasting event held in the same area. Vendange Brunch By Spiral will feature 40 different wine bottles for leisurely wine tasting. In homage to harvest customs, an animated demonstration of grape stomping traditionally done prior to wine blending will be presented.

The Sunset Bar and La Veranda outlets will round off the revelry with their own celebrations as the month of October draws to an end. On Oct. 27, Sofitel patrons may dine under the stars at the Wine Al Fresco event, where guests are treated to a multitude of grilled specialties, a free-flowing New World wine selection spanning six wine regions, and live musical entertainment. Guests may also enjoy a special Loire Valley wine dinner featuring the wines of Tresors de Loire with a matching set menu at La Veranda.
